A Brief Main Introduction of the SIFT Library

The SIFT library consists of two parts the Songjiang site and the Gubei site.
Our library allocates a great majority of its resources to the Songjiang site, while the Gubei site still gets its fair share. The library is open for 96 hours per week and students and faculty can borrow books from one site and return them to the other.? There are 15 different reading rooms in the library, 14 of which are located in Songjiang. The Songjiang site offers special reading rooms for economics, legal studies, foreign language magazines and newspapers, social sciences, current periodicals, teaching references as well as special reading rooms for each of the five colleges. There are also some other special reading rooms, including a electronic reading room, a reading room reserved for test purposes and a reading room for faculty and postgraduate students only.? The Gubei site offers one comprehensive reading room. The library has seats for 1374 people and offers separate stacks for Chinese books and foreign books.
After decades of construction, the SIFT library now offers an impressive collection of resources on ?foreign trade and economics including books on international economics, international trade, international finance, marketing, business administration, business foreign languages and international economic law. Currently the SIFT library boasts 1.02 million Chinese and foreign books, 400,000 electronic books, more than 1,300 newspapers, magazines and periodicals from China and overseas, and more than 20,000 electronic periodicals. The library also offers a number of foreign electronic databases, including EBSCO full-text database, LexisNexis legal database, ProQuest database of master theses and doctoral dissertations, and a database dealing with the World Trade Organization (WTO). It also has a self-built database for master theses of SIFT graduates.
